A Somayaaga or Soma – sacrifice is the world’s most ancient ritual. It is still practiced by Hindus. Contrary to popular perception, Soma is not an intoxicating drink. Although there is now doubt as to the identity of Soma, but, its juice is obtained during the ritual only and consumed within a matter of hours.
The video below was recorded by Robert Gardner and Frits Stall, in 1975 at Panjal, Kerala. It give a brief yet detailed idea of how much effort and planning this requires.
